OBERLIN, Ohio – Despite playing its second game in as many nights, the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team shook off any fatigue it may have felt Thursday night and soundly defeated the host Oberlin College Yeomen, 70-47.

The Hornets (3-3) didn't waste any time in jumping out to a quick lead. A Gabriel Sharp three-pointer gave the Hornets their first double-digit advantage, 12-2, with 14:08 remaining in the first half. The Yeomen were able to cut the lead back down to nine points several times but ultimately would not get any closer.

Another Sharp three-point bucket gave the Hornets their largest lead of the night, 56-30, with 10:01 left in the game and ended any real suspense at Philips Gymnasium.

Sharp had a very efficient shooting night in leading K with 17 points. He finished the evening making 6-8 from the field and 3-5 from beyond the three-point arc. Lukas Broadsword contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals to the winning effort. DJ Courtney was the third Hornet in double figures with 13 points and six rebounds.

Kalamazoo had advantages in rebounds (33-24) and assists (13-11), but the Hornets' hot shooting is what really had the Yeomen reeling. The Hornets scorched the nets in making 27 of their 49 shots (55%), including 9-19 from long range and 7-8 free throws. Oberlin was not able to match the torrid pace, as they managed to sink just 19-53 from the field (36%).

The Hornets, who were defeated at Bluffton Wednesday night, ended the Ohio portion of their road trip at 1-1. They will get back on the bus and take the trip to Ann Arbor to face Concordia University Wednesday at 7 p.m.
