KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team had four different players score in double figures Monday night, but fell to the Calvin University Knights 83-65 at Anderson Athletic Center.

Kalamazoo gave Calvin all it could handle in the first half, as the teams took turns swapping the lead three times before Addison Atwater's three-point basket gave the Hornets a 12-10 lead at the 13:08 mark.

Kalamazoo would hold that lead for the next 7:29 until Calvin's Luke Morrison (30 points on 11-18 shooting) gave the visitors a 27-25 lead by sinking one of his six three-pointers on the evening.

A Ty Horky layup brought the Hornets to with two, 36-34, with just 14 seconds remaining in the first half, but Morrison dialed long distance just before the buzzer, allowing the visitors to take a 39-34 lead into the break.

Josh Decker's three-pointer brought the Hornets to within three, 45-42, with 17:27 remaining in the game, but that's as close as the home team could get. Calvin stretched its lead to double-digits for good just under three minutes later, when a jump shot made it 54-44 with 14:31 left.

Lukas Broadsword scored 14 points and had team-highs in assists (five) and blocked shots (two). Decker sank four of his six three-point attempts and his 14 points matched Broadsword for team honors.

Horky added 12 points, two assists, and two steals, while Chris Cayton's ten points made him the fourth Hornet in double-figure scoring. Atwater stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, four assists, three rebounds, and a steal.

The Hornets (4-12, 1-4 MIAA) shot the ball well, making 24 of their 52 attempts (46%), including 9-25 from beyond the arc (36%).  Calvin shot it slightly better, however, shooting 57% from the field (32-56) and 39% from long distance (11-28). The Knights also had advantages on the glass (30-23) and in steals (10-5). Each team tallied 14 assists on the evening.

The Hornets won't have to wait long to get another shot at the Knights as they will travel to Grand Rapids on Wednesday for an 8 p.m. tip.
