ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team traveled to #24 Trine in an MIAA matchup on Wednesday evening (Feb. 15). The Hornets could not keep pace as the Thunder ran away with a 72-45 victory.

Trine opened the game with a 10-2 lead within the first five minutes of action. However, threes by Bobby Samples, Ty Horky, and Addison Atwater trimmed the deficit back down to one at the halfway point in the half. Unfortunately, the Thunder got on a roll and outscored the Hornets 24-9 for the remainder of the half to take a 36-20 lead into the locker room.

The teams traded baskets for the first six minutes of the second half until Trine went on a 21-3 run to put the game out of reach. The Thunder led by as much as 34 in the half, and then Kalamazoo trimmed it down to 27 when the final buzzer went off.

Horky led the Hornets with 10 points and two assists on the night. Samples contributed seven points and grabbed a team-high four rebounds.

Rounding out the scoring for Kalamazoo was Lukas Broadsword (6), Atwater (6), Lucas Hanifan (5), Carter Bandemer (3), DJ Courtney (2), Nicholas Olmeda (2), Caleb Caul (2), and JJ Stevens (2). Trine had a 48.3% (28-58) field goal percentage compared to Kalamazoo's 35.0% (14-40).

Kalamazoo will play its final regular season game in MIAA action at Hope on Saturday (Feb. 18), beginning at 3 p.m.
