Ty Horky of the Kalamazoo College men's basketball team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Nov. 15).
Kalamazoo began its season with two home games against Denison and Ohio Northern on Nov. 10-11. The Hornets went down in the season opener to the Big Red 72-64 before bouncing back and defeating the Polar Bears 67-60.
After having 12 points, six rebounds, an assist, and a steal in the first game, Horky led the Hornets to a win in the second by shooting 5/8 from the three-point line and finishing with 24 points. He also tied a career-high with eight rebounds and added two assists. Horky is the returning leading scorer for the Hornets from 2022-23, averaging 10.5 points per game on 40% shooting, including 36.7% from beyond the arc. Horky also averaged 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Through 60 career games (44 starts), Horky is averaging 11.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
The Hornets will continue their season with a home game against Grace Christian on Wednesday (Nov. 15), and two road games at Bluffton on Friday (Nov. 17) and Defiance on Saturday (Nov. 18).
