The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team had one player selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (Mar. 26). Lukas Broadsword was the lone representative for the Hornets.

To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 90% or start in 66% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Broadsword played in 23 of the 25 games with 22 starts this past season for Kalamazoo as the power forward. In 27.7 minutes per game, Broadsword averaged 10.6 points per game by shooting a team-high 51.1% from the field and grabbed a team-best 7.7 rebounds per game. He also led the team with 62 assists (2.7 per game) and 17 blocks. Broadsword hit the buzzer-beating three-pointer against Olivet to give Kalamazoo a 78-75 home win. Broadsword is majoring in business, with a 3.61 cumulative GPA. This is his second time appearing on the all-district team, and he is also a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member.

Now that Broadsword has made the all-district team, he will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in early April.
