KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Kalamazoo College men's golfer Parker Pickell was honored by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on Monday as the Golfer of the Week.

Pickell, a sophomore from Bloomfield Village, Mich. (Seaholm HS), carded a career-best 66 on Sunday during the second round of the Battle at the Brook to capture the individual victory by one stroke. His 66 is also the second-lowest score in school history.

"I am extremely proud of and happy for Parker with his win and the outstanding start of his sophomore year," said Coach Mitch Wilson. "It was a lot of fun watching him come down the stretch."

Pickell is off to a hot start in 2019 as his 71.3 scoring average is the best on the team and is more than six strokes lower than his overall average last season. His low rounds of 66 and 71 are the two lowest by any Hornet this season.

Pickell and the Hornets begin MIAA play with their first Jamboree hosted by Hope College at Wuskowhan on Sept. 9.
