Kalamazoo College golfers Jackson Jones and Parker Pickell were named to the 2020 Golf Coaches Association of America All-Great Lakes Region Team last week.

Jones and Pickell are two of the 15 honorees in the region, and Kalamazoo is the only conference school with two representatives. Jones and Pickell are the fourth and fifth All-Region selections in school history, and this is the first year K has had two players earn this honor.

Jones, a junior from Bloomfield Hills, Mich. (Seaholm HS), was also an All-MIAA First Team selection last fall. He led the Hornets with a school-record average of 73.5 in all matches last fall, and he is currently the career leader with a 74.7 career average. Jones was named MIAA Golfer of the Week twice in the fall.

Pickell, a sophomore from Bloomfield Village, Mich. (Seaholm HS), was an All-MIAA Second Team selection last fall. He was second on the Hornets with an average of 73.8 last fall, which is also the second-best season average in school history. Pickell was named MIAA Golfer of the Week after winning the Battle of the Brook at Ohio Wesleyan, shooting a career-best 66 on the final day. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team at Olivet's Lou Collins Memorial Tournament.

"Congrats to our two scoring leaders this past fall," said Head Coach Mitch Wilson. "Both Jackson and Parker were disappointed that we couldn't play for a championship this spring, but this award helps to honor their hard work this past year. They will be ready to lead us again in 2020-21!"

The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished third in the MIAA last fall. The Hornets were scheduled to compete in the MIAA Spring Qualifying Tournament before the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to the spring season.

Jones and Pickell join previous All-Region selections Nick Ludka (2018-19), Phil Ritchie (2016-17), and David Smith (2014-15).
