The 2023-24 Kalamazoo College men's golf team has arrived on campus and begun pre-season workouts, with the season starting at the Lou Collins Memorial on Sept. 1-2. The Hornets will look to get back into the top four of the MIAA after fifth-place finishes in each of the past two seasons.

Schedule Breakdown

  • The Hornets will then participate in the Irish Hills Intercollegiate on Sept. 15-16 at Tecumseh Golf Course, hosted by Adrian, before jumping into MIAA play.

  • The first three MIAA Jamborees will happen in an 11-day span. Albion will host the first one at the Jackson Country Club on Sept. 19.

  • Calvin hosts the second at the Watermark on Sept. 25, while Trine hosts the third on Sept. 30 at Zollner Golf Club.

  • The team is comprised of three seniors, four juniors, two sophomores, and one heading into their first collegiate season.

Returning Statistical Leaders

  • Tyler Omness returns as Kalamazoo's top golfer after being named to the All-MIAA Second Team for the second straight season. He finished in the top 25 in all 13 events he participated in, including 11 top-20 finishes and three top-10 finishes with an average of 76.9.

  • Luke Rop finished the season strong last year with three top-25 finishes in the spring season, averaging 84.9 for the year.

Stepping Up

  • Nick Coseo and MacKale McGuire averaged 87.2 during MIAA play last season and will battle to be in the top five golfers on the team.

  • Fuzail Ahmed and Breven Brill played in just a handful of tournaments during the spring season and will look to take a step forward in the program.

  • The lone newcomer is Emiliano Alvarado Rescala, and he will look to make an impact on the team.

Quoting Coach Price

"Although we still have a relatively young team, we do bring a lot of expertise and experience with us. We expect great things from the top end of our lineup this season. That being said, with the leadership of a couple of our key players, we are set to have a great season this year. I am excited about what this group could do."
