Men's Soccer wins 2-1 at Hope

The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team won 2-1 at Hope on Tuesday. The win moved Kalamazoo into a tie with Hope for third place in the final MIAA regular season standings.

The Flying Dutchmen outshot Kalamazoo 24-8 overall, but just 5-4 on goal.

Hope took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 16th minute.

Hope's lead held through halftime and into the 53rd minute when Kalamazoo's Mike Minkus found the back of the net.

Jordan Veillette's goal in the 71st minute put Kalamazoo on top for good as the Hornets held Hope scoreless over the remaining 19 minutes.

Dane Macdonell made one save in goal for Kalamazoo in the first half. Beau Prey made three saves in the second half.

Despite tying for third in the standings, Hope holds the tiebreaker so Kalamazoo enters the MIAA Tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Hornets travel to league champion Calvin College on Thursday, Nov. 1 for an MIAA Tournament semifinal contest scheduled for 3 p.m.
