ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team left Scotland Yard with a 2-1 victory over the Alma Scots Saturday, Oct. 26.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore Nicholas Shabino scored the opening goal in the 59th minute snapping an over 390 minute scoreless streak dating back to a 1-0 victory over Trine on Oct. 12.

Alma answered in the 70th minute to tie the game at one, but K would not be denied. Freshman Jordan Veillette beat Alma goalkeeper Graham Wallace on a penalty kick in the 80th minute.

"This was a great win for us against a very organized and hard working team in Alma," Kalamazoo Head Coach Lumumba Shabazz said.

Kalamazoo got out shot 16-10 in the contest, but junior goalkeeper Beau Prey was up to the challenge. The Milford native saves six of seven Alma shots that were on net.

Shabino fired off two shots in the contest while Cervino took three shots.

"We hope to use this win to continue to play well in hopes of making the MIAA [Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association] tournament," Shabazz said.

Kalamazoo returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 29, when it hosts Calvin for a 7:00 p.m. game at MacKenzie Field.
