The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team bounced back in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action Tuesday afternoon as it defeated the hosting Trine University Thunder by a final score of 2-1.
Brenden Groggel got the scoring started in the match, notching his first goal of the season in the 22nd minute on a cross played in by Noah Bushaw.
Just over six minutes later, Cal Kirchen recorded his team-leading fourth goal of the season after settling a cross from Collin Sweet and beating a defender.
While the Hornets conceded a goal in the 67th minute of play, it was the only shot on frame they allowed in the second half. K outshot the Thunder 14-7 in the match.
With the win, Kalamazoo improves to 3-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the MIAA. The Hornets will head home this weekend for a 7 p.m. match with Hope College on Saturday, Sept. 26.
