Men's Soccer falls to No. 3 Calvin on Senior Night

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team's six game winning streak came to an end Wednesday evening as the Hornets fell to No. 3 ranked Calvin College, 2-0. The Knights improved to 17-0-1 overall with the win.

Despite outshooting the Knights 6-1 in the first half, Calvin's Isky Van doorne struck in the 26th minute giving the Knights a 1-0 lead.

The Hornets had multiple strong scoring opportunities in the first half highlighted by a Cal Kirchen shot in the 32nd minute that was saved by Calvin's Niko Giantsopoulos. Less than a minute later, Brenden Groggel took a shot from inside the penalty area that was saved once again by Giantsopoulos.

The Knights added their second goal of the game in the 59th minute. Sam Hanover scored his 8th goal of the season.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 10-3-0 in the MIAA and will close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Adrian. Conference tournament action begins Nov. 4.
