Men's Soccer draws in season opener

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – In the opening game of the 2016 season, the Kalamazoo College men's soccer team played its way to a spirited 0-0 draw with DePauw University.

In just the 26th minute of play, the Tigers' Zach Hoffman was shown a red card and DePauw was forced to play with 10 men the rest of the way.

Four more cautions were handed out by the referee in the game, including three for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo was slightly outshot by DePauw, 17-14.

Griffin Hamel kept the clean sheet in goal for the Hornets recording seven saves.

The two teams also drew 0-0 last season at MacKenzie Field.

Kalamazoo continues non-conference play on Friday, Sept. 9 when the Hornets travel to Wheaton to play Elmhurst at 5 p.m. Kalamazoo will play Wheaton the following day at 8 p.m.
