WHEATON, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team played Wheaton College to a scoreless tie Saturday night.
Each team took six shots in the first half while Wheaton held a 5-2 edge in shots over the final 65 minutes of play.
Kalamazoo's Griffin Hamel saved all four shots on goal, including one in overtime, to preserve the shutout.
Wheaton (1-2-1) entered the season ranked No. 7 in the preseason coaches poll. The Thunder are currently receiving votes in the D3soccer.com poll.
Kalamazoo (0-1-2) begins MIAA play with its home opener against Olivet on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
