ALBION, Mich. – In the final game of the first half of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play, the Kalamazoo College men's soccer team won its second consecutive match Wednesday evening as the Hornets traveled to Albion College.

Kalamazoo won, 1-0, improving its conference record to 3-2-2 in the MIAA.

After a sustained spell of possession in the Hornets' attacking half midway through the first 45 minutes of play, Joshua Robison slipped a ball through the Albion backline right into the path of Cal Kirchen. Taking one prep touch, Kirchen powered the ball into the bottom right corner giving K the 1-0 advantage in the 32nd minute.

The goal was Kirchen's fourth of the season.

As the game progressed past halftime and turned into a more chippy affair, Kalamazoo's organized defensive shape limited Albion to very few quality chances, if any, in the final 45 minutes of play.

In the end, Kalamazoo held a 7-6 advantage in shots. The Hornets also held a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Kalamazoo will begin the second half of MIAA play on Saturday, Oct. 8 when the Hornets travel to Olivet.
