Men's Soccer Falls to Illinois Wesleyan in Double Overtime

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team dropped its match against Illinois Wesleyan by a score of 2-1 in double overtime. 

The teams held each other scoreless in the first half before Zack Kokes got the Titans on the board in the 74th minute. 

Ben Meschke responded for Kalamazoo in the 88th minute with his second goal in as many nights. Aidan Hurley and Hayden Strobel each assisted on the play. 

Taking a 1-1 tie into overtime, Illinois Wesleyan's Logan Servin found the back of the net with just under three minutes left in the game to secure the victory. 

Kalamazoo outshot Illinois Wesleyan 21-12 and held a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Freshman Sean Ellis made his first start in goal for the Hornets and collected five saves while playing every minute. 

The Hornets return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 4 when they head to Manchester for a 2 p.m. start.
