KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team defeated No. 18 North Park University 1-0 at MacKenzie Field Saturday evening.
After 88 scoreless minutes, Tony Yazbeck scored the game-winner with 1:57 left in regulation. Alex Wallace passed it in and Ben Meschke tipped it to Yazbeck who knocked it into the goal.
The Hornets defended a flurry of attacks and corner kicks in the final minute to secure the win.
North Park outshot Kalamazoo 13-10 overall, although both teams had six shots on goal.
Luke Kastran made six saves in goal for the shutout.
Kalamazoo, ranked No. 9 in the region, improved to 5-1-1 with the win. North Park, ranked No. 18 nationally and No. 3 in the region, fell to 4-3.
Kalamazoo is back in action at home on Monday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. hosting Lourdes University.
