Men's Soccer Advances to MIAA Tournament Semifinals

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team was victorious in its MIAA Tournament first-round match Saturday afternoon as it defeated Trine University 3-1. 

The Hornets got on the board first in the contest as Nick Kraeuter connected on a penalty kick in the 31st minute. 

Emilio Romo doubled the Kalamazoo lead less than 11 minutes into the second half with his first goal of the season. Travis Barclay assisted Romo on the play. 

Trine countered with a goal of its own in the 60th minute when Brian Morris cut the lead to one on a penalty kick. 

The third and final penalty kick of the match occurred in the 80th minute when Ben Meschke delivered for the 14th time this season. 

Kalamazoo held a 13-8 advantage in shots throughout the match and had nine on goal compared to Trine's three. 

Luke Kastran made two saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal for the Hornets. 

Kalamazoo now advances to the MIAA Tournament semifinals and will travel to play Hope on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
