Meschke Named to United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Ben Meschke of the Kalamazoo College men's soccer team has been honored by the United Soccer Coaches as a member of the All-Central Region Third Team. 

Meschke, a junior from Williamston, Mich. (Okemos), led the Hornets with 14 goals this season. This was the third most in the MIAA as he was just two goals behind the league leader. Of those goals, six were game-winners including three in games that ended in a 1-0 score. 

Ben also tallied a team-high 29 points which were fifth highest in the conference. 

The junior now has 18 goals and 45 points during his three-year career at Kalamazoo.

Meschke was named to the All-MIAA First Team following the season which was the first time in his career. 

He led the Hornets to an 11-5-2 overall record this season while finishing third in the MIAA at 4-2-1. The team earned its first berth in the NCAA III Tournament since 2001. 

"Ben is an extraordinary and dedicated student athlete," said Coach Lumumba Shabazz. "He works tremendously hard at his craft and deserves this and many more honors. It is a pleasure to coach him."
