Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team opened the home portion of its schedule Wednesday night at MacKenzie Field and claimed a 2-0 victory over the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
The Hornets opened the scoring in the 73rd minute when Alex Wallace tallied his second goal of the young season by converting a penalty kick. Kalamazoo got an insurance goal eight minutes later when Emilio Romo knocked in a rebound off a Hayden Strobel free kick.
The K defense managed to stone Dearborn for much of the evening, holding the Wolverines to just five shots. The Hornets offense fired nine shots, led by Michele Alia with four.
Luke Kastran claimed the shutout in goal for Kalamazoo.
The Hornets improved to 2-1 with the win and will next host Wilmington (Ohio) on Saturday at 5 p.m.
