Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team scored in the 20th minute and then made that lone goal stand in a 1-0 victory over the Elmhurst University Blue Jays Wednesday night at MacKenzie Field.

The scoring play started off on the left side of the Elmhurst goal, with Jake Lynett passing the ball to Chad Ewing. Ewing smartly tapped it right back to a cutting Lynett, who found an alley and drilled it past the sprawling Elmhurst keeper.

Kalamazoo tallied 19 shots on the night, and Elmhurst peppered Hornet keeper Gavin Houtkooper with 15 shots of its own, but the freshman stood tall in the shutout victory.

Michele Alia led the Hornets with four shots on goal and Houtkooper finished the game with seven saves.

With the win, Kalamazoo improves to 3-2-1 on the season and will close out its homestand on Saturday with a 5 p.m. contest vs. Lake Forest.
