ADA, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team played its second game in as many days in neutral site fashion against Wilmington. On Saturday afternoon (Sept. 10), the Hornets played another solid match by only conceding one goal, but the Quakers scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Kalamazoo.

The Hornets had more success in creating chances to score than the Quakers in the first half, holding a 7-3 shot advantage. Five of those shots had an opportunity to score, but both goalkeepers were up to the task as the first half was scoreless. Kalamazoo also had three corker kick chances in the first 45 minutes to create scoring chances on set pieces.

The pace picked up for Wilmington in the second half as the Quakers shot the ball 10 times, with three being on goal. One of those chances was true in the 72nd minute as the game's only goal was scored. In the second half, three of the six shots that Kalamazoo took were on the net, but the Wilmington goalkeeper preserved the shutout in the end.

Gavin Houtkooper (1-4) made four saves on five chances in the game. The Hornets ended with more corner kicks (4-1) and fouls (14-9), while the Quakers had more saves (8-4), and both teams had 13 shots a piece.

Kalamazoo will be on the road again on Wednesday (Sept. 14) against Elmhurst, as kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Elmhurst, Ill.
