SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team played against NCAA DI opponent Notre Dame on Tuesday evening (Sept. 27). The Fighting Irish came out red hot in the first half by scoring seven goals on their way to an 8-0 win over the Hornets.

The Kalamazoo defense saw constant pressure in the first half as Notre Dame shot the ball 12 times. Alex Kish made a start in net for the Hornets and made two saves of the nine shots on the frame. The Fighting Irish offense was their best defense as the Hornets did not get a shot off in the offensive end. Notre Dame held a 7-0 lead at the break.

The pace slowed slightly in the second half, but the Fighting Irish still held an 8-1 shot advantage. Ryan Talanda saw the first collegiate action of his career as the goalkeeper and responded by allowing one goal and making three saves. Emilio Romo was the lone Hornet that recorded a shot that the Notre Dame keeper had to make a save on.

Kalamazoo totaled more saves (5-1) and fouls (13-10) in the game, while Notre Dame had more shots (20-1) and corner kicks (5-1).

The Hornets will play their last non-conference game on Sunday (Oct. 2) against Carthage. Kickoff will take place at 6 p.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
