KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Sam Ankley of the Kalamazoo College swimming and diving team was selected by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as this week's Hornet of the Week.
Sam swept both diving events in Kalamazoo's meet against Calvin and Olivet over the weekend. He scored a 281.30 on the 1-meter dive which was nearly 50 points higher than the next highest finisher. It was also enough for an NCAA III Regional cut.
Ankley also won the 3-meter diving event at 268.75 and won the event by more than 70 points.
This marks the fourth time that the freshman has been named Hornet of the Week. He was also named MIAA Diver of the Week on Monday for the fourth time this season.
The Hornets return to the pool on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Hope College at 11 a.m.
