Sam Ankley of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming & diving team has been selected to the All-MIAA Men's Swimming & Diving team on Thursday (Feb. 23).
Ankley was the top diver for the men's swimming & diving team and in the MIAA all season. He helped the Hornets to a fourth-place finish in the MIAA Championships with 477 points.
A hometown diver, Ankley hails from Kalamazoo, Mich., and turned in a stellar season for the Hornets. In 11-dive events, he set personal bests in the 1-meter and 3-meter at the MIAA Championships. His score of 496.55 in the 3M crowned him the winner, and then he finished second in the 1M with a score of 489.30. Ankley collected the most points among all MIAA divers and was named the MIAA Most Valuable Diver. He also set career bests six-dive scores during the season, 300.05 in the 1M and 284.4 in the 3M. Ankley was a five-time MIAA Diver of the Week and a four-time SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week this season for Kalamazoo.
This is the third time that Ankley has been selected to an All-MIAA team in his career. Ankley will compete for the Hornets at the NCAA DIII Diving Central Regional on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 24-25).
