Zach Butters of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving team was named the MIAA Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday (Oct. 16). This is the first time the junior has earned the honor.
Kalamazoo opened its season with a home dual against Albion on Oct. 14, and the Hornets defeated the Britons 141-93.
Butters won two individual races on the day, touching the wall first in the 500 Free at 5:03.91 and the 1000 Free at 10:40.66. He was also on the 200 Free Relay team with Ben Pickrel, Andre Fouque, and Daniel Koselka, who won at 1:29.44. His career best times so far are 1:44.98 in the 200 Free, 4:44.63 in the 500 Free, 10:11.37 in the 1000 Free, and 16:53.64 in the 1650 Free.
The Hornets are scheduled to compete next at the MIAA Relays hosted by Calvin on Friday (Oct. 20).
