KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team kicked off an action packed day of Hornet athletics with a 7-2 defeat of the visiting Carthage College Red Men.
Kalamazoo quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the morning as the Hornets swept the three doubles matchups.
Winning 8-1 in the two doubles match were Robert Hudson and Eric De Witt. Allen Vinson and Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado also won 8-1 in three doubles, while Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus finished off with an 8-4 win in one doubles.
The Hornets carried their momentum into the singles matches as De Witt made quick work of the four singles matchup winning 6-2, 6-0. Metzler, who's ranked No. 18 in the nation, finished quickly thereafter securing the overall win for Kalamazoo winning 6-2, 6-3 in one singles.
DelOlmo-Parrado added to K's total with a strong effort in five singles defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-1.
Spencer Navarre capped off a dominating afternoon for the Hornets with a 6-2, 6-0 defeat in six singles.
Kalamazoo will resume its spring season tomorrow, Feb. 21 with a 9 a.m. matchup with Luther College.
