Johnson Named MIAA Player of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - In a release from the MIAA on Monday afternoon, Casey Johnson was named the conference's Player of the Week following his efforts at the ITA Central Regionals. 

Johnson, a sophomore from Kohler, Wis. (Kohler HS), competed in singles matches over the weekend and was victorious in his first two rounds of play. After defeating Jacon Elbin (Baldwin Wallace) 6-0, 6-3 in the Round of 128, Johnson tallied another win in the Round of 64 over Andrew Siciliano (John Carroll) 6-3, 6-0 before falling in the Round of 32. 

Johnson collected a 16-6 overall singles record in his freshman season and was 7-0 in MIAA play while playing primarily at five singles. He also had a 2-0 MIAA record in doubles matches while going 6-9 in matches overall. 

The ITA Regionals wrapped up the fall season for the Hornets as they set their sights on a Feb. 7 match at Wabash to begin the spring season.
