Henry Named MIAA Player of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced on Monday that Daniel Henry of the Kalamazoo College men's tennis team was named Player of the Week following the team's opening weekend.

Henry, a senior from Kalamazoo, Mich. (Kalamazoo Central), began the weekend with an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles with Ian Yi against Wabash College. Henry also tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win against Wabash's No. 2 singles player. 

To finish the weekend, Henry and Yi won 8-1 at one doubles against Earlham College. He earned a hard-fought victory at two singles in which he won 6-4 in the first set, lost 4-6 in the second, and rallied for a 13-11 win in the final set. 

In his fourth year as Kalamazoo's primary No. 2 singles player, Henry has now been named MIAA Player of the Week seven times. He has also been named All-MIAA First Team in each of his first three seasons at Kalamazoo. 

Henry and the Hornets return home to face No. 4 Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 15 followed by No. 11 Kenyon on Sunday, Feb. 16.
