Men's Tennis Headed to Wisconsin for Opening Round of NCAA III Tournament

The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Whiteater, for the opening rounds of the 2024 NCAA III Championships.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to face Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) in a first-round match on Friday, May 10. Match times are to be announced.

Kalamazoo earned the MIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships with a 5-3 win over Calvin University in the MIAA Tournament championship this past Friday at Stowe Stadium. Kalamazoo earned a three-way tie for the MIAA regular season championship with a 6-1 league record and enters the national tournament with an overall record of 9-10.

Gustavus Adolphus, Kalamazoo's first-round opponent, earned a bid to the national tournament by winning the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship with a 5-0 win over Carleton College. The Gusties are 22-7 overall and ranked 14th in the nation.

The winner of the Kalamazoo/Gustavus Adolphus match will face Wisconsin-Whitewater in a second-round match on Saturday, May 11. Wisconsin-Whitewater is 18-3 overall and ranked 17th in the nation.

Grinnell College (24-3) and Ohio Northern University (19-5) will face off in the other first-round match on Friday at Whitewater. Grinnell is ranked No. 35 in the nation. The winner of that match will face No. 7 Denison (19-4) in the second round on Saturday.

Second-round winners will meet on Sunday, May 12, with the winner moving on to the national quarterfinals on May 21 in St. Louis, Mo.

This will be Kalamazoo's 47th NCAA III Championships appearance. The Hornets have won seven titles and finished second on four occasions.
