Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth at Calvin Knight Invite

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team competed in the Calvin Knight Invite on Friday (Sept. 29) at South Christian High School. The Hornets finished in fifth place out of seven teams with 135 points.

Calvin won the event with 27 points, with Grand Valley State coming in second (41 points), Alma in third (110 points), Hope in fourth (112 points), Kalamazoo in fifth (135 points), Olivet in sixth (151 points), and Earlham in seventh (180 points).

Rob Kloosterman was the first to cross the line at Kalamazoo in 17th with a time of 27:06. Noah Eckenroth and Levi Thomas grabbed top-100 finishes as Eckenroth came in 41st at 28:09 and Thomas finished in 71st at 28:38. Kloosterman improved on his career-best time by five seconds, and Thomas ran a personal-best by 14 seconds.

Patrick Dunfee, Keegan ReynoldsGarrick Hohm, and Caleb Ewald rounded out the scoring for the Hornets. Dunfee came in 102nd (28:40), Reynolds in 135th (29:11), Hohm in 170th (29:20), and Ewald in 209th (29:47). Reynolds ran a lifetime-best by three seconds.

Also running for the Hornets were Tobin Schiller (30:08), Gerardo Herrera-Sanchez (30:37), and Bryce Soisson (30:37).

Kalamazoo will have a week off before heading to Rock Island, Ill., to compete in the Augustana College Invite on Saturday (Oct. 14).
