Rob Kloosterman of the Kalamazoo College men's cross country team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Nov. 1).
Kalamazoo ran at the MIAA Championships on Oct. 28 to continue its season and finished fourth out of eight teams after scoring 158 points. This was the best finish at the MIAA Championships for the Hornets since 2005 when the team also finished fourth.
After transferring to Kalamazoo from Aquinas, Kloosterman has settled in as the Hornets' top runner this season and took 26th at the MIAA Championships with a time of 25:42. That was a minute and 20 seconds faster than his previous personal best time that he ran at the Augustana College Invite a couple of weekends ago. Kloosterman has shown a significant improvement this season after running a 28:33 8k in his first race to the 25:42 he ran this past weekend.
The Hornets will next run at the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional on Saturday (Nov. 11).
