Softball splits doubleheader at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader at Albion College on Wednesday.

Albion won the opener 4-0 while Kalamazoo won the second game by the same score.

The host Britons had eight hits in the first game while limiting Kalamazoo to four. Albion scored three runs in the first and one in the third.

Katie George went 2-for-3 in the opener while Abby Anderson had a double.

The Hornets responded in game two with one run in the second inning and three in the fifth to secure the 4-0 win. Kalamazoo had eight hits while holding Albion to just two.

Abby Anderson was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Dana Page drove in two runs with a triple in the fifth. Querubin Dubois had a double.

Victoria Najacht pitched all seven innings to earn the shutout, allowing just two hits while walking one and striking out four. Najacht did not allow a hit until the fifth inning, and got out of a jam in the sixth inning by stranding runners on second and third.

Kalamazoo returns to action with a doubleheader at Calvin on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
