Softball drops pair of games at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team dropped a pair of games at Hope on Friday afternoon, losing the first game 10-2 in five innings and the second 15-5.

Game One

Kalamazoo started the game strong as Andrea MacMichael doubled to open the game and then came home on an Anna Majewski bunt. Hope answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and then scored five more in the second to jump out to a big lead.

The MacMicheal-Majewski combination plated the other Kalamazoo run in the third, but Hope put up three more runs to end the game after the fifth.

Game Two

Kalamazoo led through three innings in the second game before Hope scored five runs fourth. Kalamazoo answered with two of their own in the frame as Andrea MacMichael and Briana Huisken each drove in runs to make the score 5-3. 

The Hope bats heated up from there as they scored in each of the next three innings including six runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Izzy Kirck led K offensively going 2-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate.

Keelin McManus pitched six innings for the Hornets in the loss.

Kalamazoo travels to Elmhurst tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
