KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee announced Tuesday that Sammi Luzadre of the softball team was named Hornet of the Week.
Sammi was instrumental on the mound for the Hornets in their season-opening win over Franklin. She delivered a complete game while allowing just one earned run and striking out two.
At the plate, Luzadre also drove in the game-winning run on a base hit that brought Lucy Hart home in the top of the fourth inning.
Luzadre delivered an RBI double in the second game of the series while getting the start at second base.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday, March 14 when they host Bluffton for their home opener. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
