Softball Senior Recognition

The COVID-19 pandemic put an unexpected and early end to the 2020 spring seasons. As a result, traditional Senior Days were also canceled for spring sports. Please join us in recognizing and honoring our senior student-athletes through the tribute written by their coach below.


#4 Alyssa Heitkamp. Alyssa is the daughter of Glen and Judy Heitkamp. 

Alyssa is from Avon, OH, and Avon High School. Academically, Alyssa is a biology/pre-med major. During her junior year, she participated in a study abroad program in Athens, Greece. She successfully completed her Senior Individualized Project titled "Age is a Significant Predictor of Hospital Variables for Emergency Department Patients Placed in the Observation Unit." Alyssa was a member of the Dean's List four times while at K and was named to the MIAA Honor Roll during the 2016-17 and 2018-19 academic years. 

Athletically, Alyssa is a 4-year letter winner and a 2-year captain for the Kalamazoo softball team. Alyssa has played 97 games for the Hornets and is a career .212 hitter with 47 hits, 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 17 runs batted in. She has played all three outfield positions and has a career .923 fielding percentage. 

Following graduation, Alyssa plans to continue her education by attending PA school.


#11 Anna Majewski. Anna is the daughter of Mike and Sue Majewski.

Anna is from St. Clair Shores, MI, and University Liggett High School. Academically, Anna is a biology major. During her junior year, she participated in a study abroad program in Strasbourg, France. She successfully completed her Senior Individualized Project titled "The Impact of a Value Based Approach on Practice Methodologies in Colon and Rectal Surgical Patients." Anna was a member of the Dean's List twice while at K. 

Athletically, Anna is a 4-year letter winner and a 2-year captain of the softball team. She is a career .280 hitter with 86 total hits, 19 doubles, 3 triples, and 39 runs batted in. Defensively, Anna has primarily been a catcher, while also seeing time in the outfield and middle infield. She has a career .969 fielding percentage.

In the K softball record book, Anna is second in single-season hits with 40, second in single-season doubles with nine, and third in single-season RBI with 25.

Following graduation, Anna plans to work in a research lab for environmental issues and eventually attend graduate school for sustainable architecture.
