KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team won both its games on Saturday with a 6-5 victory over Saint Mary's and a 7-6 win against Adrian.

Game 1

Saint Mary's held a 5-0 advantage through the first four and a half innings, allowing just one Kalamazoo hit. The Hornets then scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by an RBI single from Sam Moss, a double from Keelin McManus to score two, and a single by Brynna Garden to drive in one run.

With a 5-5 tie heading into the sixth, the Hornets held Saint Mary's scoreless at the top before taking the lead in the bottom of the inning. With Kelsey Deikman on base from a walk and advancing to second with a sacrifice bunt from Nina Szalkiewicz, Lucy Hart hit a single up center field to score the winning run.

Lucy Hart led the Hornets with two runs and one RBI. Keelin McManus had one hit and led with two RBI. Kelsey Deikman, Sam Moss, Lizzy Rottenberk and Brynna Garden also had hits.

Sam Moss pitched for four innings, striking out three batters. Keelin McManus earned the save after pitching the last two innings and allowing no runs to score.

Game 2

Kalamazoo continued its hot streak with a hard-fought win over Adrian.

Sam Moss hit her first home run of the contest in the first inning to score two runs with Kelsey Deikman on base. The Bulldogs scored their first run before Kalamazoo went up 5-1 behind another homer from Moss, this time to drive in two more runs. Sammi Luzadre had an RBI single to give the Hornets the four-run advantage.

Adrian rallied in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at 5-5 heading into the top of the sixth. Both teams traded runs in the next two innings before Nina Szalkiewicz hit an RBI double in the top of the seventh with Moss on base to take back the lead, 7-6. Despite the Bulldogs loading the bases in their final inning, the Hornets held off any runs to earn the win.

Sam Moss went a career-high 3-for-3 at the plate with her two home runs and a single. Today's homers were the first of her career as a Hornet.

Sammi Luzadre had a team-high three hits, a double and an RBI. Lizzy Rottenberk and Nikki Gorder had two hits each.

Kalamazoo hosts Trine next Wednesday (March 30) for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
