Softball Falls to Trine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Trine on Wednesday, 8-0 and 4-0.  

Game One

Trine led 2-0 after the first inning before adding six runs over the next five innings while holding Kalamazoo scoreless.  

Lucy Hart landed on base twice with a walk and a single in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sammi Luzadre also singled in the game. 

Luzadre pitched for 2.2 innings, allowing six runs before Keelin McManus came in for relief in the third inning. Both pitchers threw three strikeouts each. 

Trine had seven hits in the game compared to two for Kalamazoo.

Game Two

The Thunder scored first with a run in the second inning. They added another two runs in the third and a final run in the fifth to shut out the Hornets. 

Kalamazoo totaled five hits from five different Hornets in the afternoon game. Keelin McManus singled in the top of the third. The Hornets loaded the bases in the fifth inning with McManus on from a walk and singles from Brynna Garden and Nikki Gorder, but were unable to capitalize on the runners and score. Sam Moss rounded out the offense with a hit in the sixth inning.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to travel to Calvin for a doubleheader on April 3, with the first game starting at 1 p.m
