KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a pair of games against Albion on Tuesday, falling in the first game 8-2 and winning 2-1 in the second game.

Game 1

Albion went ahead 5-0 after two runs scored in the first inning, one in the second, one in the third and another in the fourth. Despite Kalamazoo putting up a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Albion added security runs in the final two frames to earn the 8-2 win.

Kalamazoo's scoring drive came in the fourth when Nina Szalkiewicz found herself on base from a double out to center field. Keelin McManus came up next with a double of her own to score Szalkiewicz. After McManus advanced to third on a wild pitch, Brynna Garden singled to score her and earn the two runs for the Hornets.

The Hornets had seven hits to Albion's 11.

Brynna Garden led Kalamazoo with two hits and one RBI. Nina Szalkiewicz and Keelin McManus both hit doubles.

Game Two

The game was kept scoreless for the first five innings. Keelin McManus threw six strikeouts and allowed just three hits from the Britons.

Kalamazoo scored first in the top of the sixth when McManus hit a double deep into center field to score Nina Szalkiewicz and Lucy Hart. Despite a potential threat from Albion in the sixth inning, the Britons were held to just one run batted in to give Kalamazoo the win.

The Hornets tallied seven hits in game two from seven different batters, compared to five from Albion.

Keelin McManus pitched a complete game and tied for her career-high in strikeouts, throwing seven. She was also credited with one double and two RBI.
