Softball Falls to Alma

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost a pair of games to Alma on Monday, 9-2 and 13-5.

Game One

Alma jumped on the board with three runs in the top of the first. Kalamazoo responded with a run in the bottom half, but trailed 5-1 after the Scots scored two more in the second. Kalamazoo made it 5-2 with a run in the fifth, but was unable to get any closer as Alma added four more in the sixth. 

Alma outhit Kalamazoo 10-7 in the game. The Hornets also committed five errors and left ten runners on base.

Lucy Hart, Sam Moss and Brynna Garden each had two hits batting in the two, three and four spots, respectively. Moss had a double and an RBI. Garden also drove in a run.

Game Two

Kalamazoo scored three runs in the top of the first, one in the second and one in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. The Scots exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth before retiring the Hornets in order in the fifth to end the game.

Alma outhit Kalamazoo 12-8.

Sam Moss was 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple. She also drove in three runs and scored a run.

Lucy Hart had two hits including a double. Lizzy Rottenberk also had two hits.

Hart and Bella Caza each drove in a run.

Kalamazoo returns to action Tuesday with a doubleheader at Adrian College scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
