Softball Collects a Sweep Over Albion

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team won a pair of games at home against Albion on Thursday, 3-1 and 11-0. Sam Moss and Lucy Hart were recognized in between games for senior day.

Game One

Kalamazoo scored a run in each of the first, third, and fifth innings. Albion scored its line run in the final at bat as the Hornets got two outs to end the game. Kalamazoo outhits the Britons 7-5, with Albion committing two errors.

Lucy Hart was perfect at the plate, going 3-3 with a double, a triple, and two RBI. Lizzy Rottenberk also had a multi-hit game with a double and a triple, while Sam Moss drove in the third run. 

Sam Moss threw her 13th complete game of the season, allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts.

Game Two

Kalamazoo had three multi-run innings by scoring three in the first, four in the fourth, and another four in the fifth on the way to a five-inning run-rule win. Jordan Cook carried a perfect game into the final inning, but an error and a hit happened within the first two batters. Cook ended up throwing a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts.

Kalamazoo outhit Albion 13-1, with the Britons committing four errors and the Hornets making one. 

Lucy Hart had another big game, going 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Lizzy Rottenberk and Bella Caza drove in two runs each, while Brynna Garden and Caza had multi-hit performances.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to travel to Calvin on Wednesday, May 3, for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
