KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team was defeated 4-1 and 8-0 by #1 Trine University on Saturday.
Game One
After a scoreless first three innings, Trine scored three in the top of the fourth, two unearned. Kalamazoo responded with a run in the bottom half. Trine added a run in the top of the seventh, leading to the 4-1 final.
The Thunder had five hits in the game. Kalamazoo had four.
Lizzy Rottenberk led the Hornets with two hits and a stolen base. Jordan Wesaw had a hit and an RBI. Julia Rambo also had a hit.
Maddy Vrba struck out six and walked four in 5.2 innings in the start in the circle.
Game Two
Trine scored one in the first, two in the second, three in the third and two in the fourth, leading to the 8-0 win after five innings.
Trine finished with 11 hits but also took advantage of four Kalamazoo errors. Kalamazoo had two hits in the game.
Jordan Wesaw had a double. Brynna Garden singled for Kalamazoo's second hit.
