Softball Splits Doubleheader With Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a doubleheader with league-leading Hope College at home on Saturday. After falling 3-2 in the first game, Kalamazoo won the second game 6-0.

Game One

Hope scored two in the top of the first only to have Kalamazoo match it with two in the bottom half. Hope pulled ahead with a run in the top of the fifth while holding Kalamazoo scoreless over the final six innings of play.

Hope had seven hits in the game compared to three by Kalamazoo.

Landrie Fridsma and Jordan Wesaw each had a hit and an RBI. Emma Newlove also had a hit.

Maddy Vrba went the distance in the circle for Kalamazoo, striking out six and walking seven.

Game Two

Kalamazoo jumped on top early with three runs in the first. The Hornets added a run in the third and two in the sixth.

Jordan Cook scattered five hits in the complete game shutout, also allowing one walk.

Kalamazoo had 10 hits in the game.

Lizzy Rottenberk had two hits and two stolen bases.

Jordan Wesaw had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.

Mackenzie Moore also had two hits.

Brynna Garden had a hit and an RBI. Bella Caza had a hit and two RBIs. Jaycee Rider also had a hit and an RBI. Emma Newlove also had a hit.
