Emily VanFleet joined the Kalamazoo College coaching staff prior to the 2024 season. VanFleet is currently working with the pitching staff as the pitching coach.
Before coming to Kalamazoo, coach VanFleet spent eight years at Kalamazoo Valley Community College as an assistant coach for the first six seasons and the head coach for the final two seasons. As the head coach, VanFleet had a record of 46-39 from 2022-23.
VanFleet began her collegiate career at KVCC, where her team went to nationals in both seasons after going 35-16 in her first season and 31-9 in her second. In the 2013 season, VanFleet played catcher, where she had a .368 average, .395 on-base percentage, .688 slugging percentage, 53 hits, eight doubles, a triple, 12 home runs (led the team), 43 RBI, 35 runs scored, five walks, 12 strikeouts, and two stolen bases. In 2014, her statistics were a .314 average, .331 OBP, .579 SLG, 12 doubles, a triple, six home runs, 39 RBI, 29 runs scored, four walks, and 14 strikeouts. She also found success at the youth level by leading her Little League World Series team to a championship in 2006.
After her two playing years at KVCC, VanFleet transferred to Trine, where she completed her Criminal Justice degree with a minor in Psychology.
VanFleet grew up in Mattawan and now resides in Lawton with her husband, Cameron, son Bennett, and two dogs, Korra and Kevin.
