Swimming and Diving Seniors Honor Most Valuable Professors

The swimming & diving Most Valuable Professors graphic.

The 2023-24 Kalamazoo College men's and women's swimming and diving seniors have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season.

The Hornets selected Dr. Patrik Hultberg, Dr. Karyn Boatwright, Dr. Blaine Moore, and Dr. Regina Stevens-Truss.

Tim Karubas selected Dr. Patrik Hultberg from the Economics and Business Department as his MVP. Karubas chose Dr. Hultberg because he has been instrumental in giving him an enjoyable and informative education at K. Most of the knowledge that Karubas gained as a Hornet is attributed to Dr. Hultberg and his ways of teaching.

The next MVP was Dr. Karyn Boatwright from the Psychology Department, chosen by Justin Beckrow. Dr. Boatwright gave Beckrow the essential tools of listening and helping others. Beckrow had a situation over the summer, and he could go to Dr. Boatwright to talk and make a valuable connection with a professor he had not had before. Dr. Boatwright is the most influential professor that Beckrow has had, and he would not know where he would be without Dr. Boatwright's teachings, advice, and kindness.

Jess Dant picked Dr. Blaine Moore from the Biology Department as her MVP. Dr. Moore is a fantastic professor for Dant and has always been eager to answer her never-ending questions. Time and time again, Dant turned to Dr. Moore for advice about navigating her education and career. She is confident that she can go on and succeed in her future academic endeavors because of the knowledge gained through Dr. Moore.

The final MVP was Dr. Regina Stevens-Truss from the Chemistry Department, selected by Becca Zoetewey. Throughout Zoetewey's time at K, Dr. Stevens-Truss has been in her corner to care not only about her academic career but also her band and athletic careers. Dr. Stevens-Truss shows constant commitment, ensuring her students will succeed in her classroom and the future beyond K. Dr. Stevens-Truss' signature catchphrase is "Truss means support" and helps students find success however she can. When Zoetewey leaves K, she will miss the many conversations with Dr. Stevens-Truss and knows that she will always have her support.

On behalf of the athletic department, THANK YOU to these Most Valuable Professors for positively influencing our student-athletes. Your work is greatly appreciated!
