Women's Basketball loses non-conference game at Aquinas, 73-51

The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost a non-conference game 73-51 at Aquinas College on Tuesday.

Kalamazoo led by as many as six points (19-13) midway through the first half. The Hornets led by four (24-20) with 7:52 left in the half before Aquinas used a 5-0 run to take the lead (25-24) with 5:30 remaining. The host Saints closed out the half on a 15-5 run to take a 40-29 lead into halftime, and led by double digits throughout the second half.

Aquinas shot 40.9 percent overall compared to 37.3 percent for Kalamazoo. The Saints scored 34 points off 27 Kalamazoo turnovers while the Hornets scored just 12 points off 13 Aquinas turnovers. Kalamazoo held a 42-37 edge in rebounds.

Anne Colonius and Nicole Antoine led Kalamazoo with 13 points each. Colonius also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Emily Lindsay added 11 points while India Hoskins and Hannah Maness each finished with six.

Kalamazoo returns to action in the Hope Classic on Friday, Dec. 14. The Hornets face Wis.-Whitewater at 5:30 p.m.
