Two Hornets post double-doubles in loss to Spring Arbor

The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 74-67 to Spring Arbor in non-conference action at Hope College's Flying Dutch Post-Exam Jam on Saturday.

There were six lead changes in the first five minutes before Kalamazoo regained the lead and extended it to 10 points (20-10) with 10:46 left in the half. Kalamazoo led by five (39-34) at halftime.

Kalamazoo held a lead through the first 12 minutes of the second half until Spring Arbor finally evened the score (56-56) with 8:01 remaining. The teams exchanged leads again before Spring Arbor finally took the lead for good with 4:28 left in the game.

Kalamazoo shot 40 percent overall while Spring Arbor shot 39.1 percent. The Hornets made 14-of-17 free throws compared to 17-of-24 for the Cougars. Spring Arbor held a 41-40 edge in rebounds, including 19-15 on the offensive end resulting in 21 second chance points.

Querubin Dubois led Kalamazoo with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals in 24 minutes off the bench.

Nicole Antoine also posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds to go with five assists.

Emily Lindsay scored 14 points with three assists and three blocked shots after hitting four three-pointers in the first half.

The Hornets return home to face Defiance College on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.
