Women's Basketball wins 63-59 at Saint Mary's

The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team won 63-59 at Saint Mary's College (Ind.) in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Saturday.

Kalamazoo never led in the first half and trailed by as many as 11 points before entering halftime down 30-27.

The Hornets took their first lead of the game (46-45) with 8:14 left in the second half, but trailed again by as many as six points (59-53) with 2:27 remaining. Kalamazoo held Saint Mary's scoreless the rest of the way while scoring 10 straight points, including six free throws to earn the win.

Kalamazoo shot 42.6 percent while limiting Saint Mary's to just 32.8 percent. Kalamazoo sank 20-of-28 free throws compared to 12-of-23 for Saint Mary's. The Hornets also outrebounded the Belles, 46-39.

Nicole Antoine led Kalamazoo with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds.

Katherine Johnston recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

India Hoskins added eight points with four assists while Emily Lindsay, Madeline Sinkovich, and Hannah Maness each finished with six points.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Calvin on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
