Cooperrider scores 13 in Women's Basketball loss to Albion

The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 70-58 to Albion College on Wednesday in the Anderson Athletic Center.

Kalamazoo led 8-5 nearly four minutes into the contest, but went the next 10 minutes without scoring a point as Albion used a 22-0 run to take a 27-8 lead with 6:15 remaining. Kalamazoo cut the deficit to 14 points (35-21) at halftime.

Kalamazoo fell behind by as many as 16 (46-30) five minutes into the second half, but the Hornets battled back and eventually tied the score at 56-56 with 4:21 remaining. Albion scored the next 12 points, however, including six free throws to put the game out of reach and secure the win.

Albion shot 42.9 percent overall while limiting Kalamazoo to 28.8 percent. The Britons also held a 45-39 edge in rebounds.

Holly Cooperrider led Kalamazoo with 13 points and five rebounds.

Nicole Antoine added nine points with four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Anne Colonius scored six points with seven rebounds while Katrina Carlsen also finished with six points.

Kalamazoo plays its final game of the season this Saturday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. at Trine.
