Women's Basketball wins 76-50 at Alma

ALMA - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team won 76-50 at Alma College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Wednesday.

The win lifts Kalamazoo to 11-7 overall and 7-3 in league play as the Hornets maintain their position in fourth place.

Kalamazoo took an early lead as Nicole Antoine score the first six points of the game on layups. The host Scots recovered, however, outscoring Kalamazoo 15-4 over the next three minutes to take a 15-11 lead with 13:17 left in the half.

Kalamazoo responded with an 18-0 run over the next eight minutes to take a 14-point lead (29-15) with 5:15 remaining. The Hornets led by 20 points (40-20) at halftime.

Kalamazoo's lead never dipped below 17 points in the second half as the Hornets cruised to the 76-50 win.

Kalamazoo shot 44.3 percent overall while limiting Alma to just 26.6 percent. Kalamazoo made 10-of-11 free throws compared to 12-of-19 for Alma. The Hornets outrebounded Alma 51-38, including 20-18 on the offensive end.

Kalamazoo scored 25 points off 21 Alma turnovers. The Hornets did turn the ball over 19 times, but the Scots were only able to capitalize with 11 points.

Nicole Antoine led Kalamazoo with 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting. The senior also grabbed eight rebounds with three assists and three steals.

Querubin Dubois scored a season-high 12 points in 14 minutes off the bench.

India Hoskins scored nine points while Emily Lindsay finished with eight. Perri (Weiderman) Nicholson scored nine points with 11 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots.

The Hornets are off this Saturday and host Hope College next Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m.
